Distribution

Distribution is allowing the audience to view their movie while in the stage of making the film. Normally a film distributor would decide how to strategy for the film. For a film to get distributed it needs to sign a license with a distribution company. After they sign the agreement, the distribution company decides how many copies of the film they want to print out so people could watch. For those of you who don’t know what a distribution company, it’s a company that markets the film so that people are allowed and able to watch their film. Between the distribution company and the filmmaker, there is a distribution right. That is there is a contract with the agreement that the percentage of the profits received and derived from the sales of books, DVDs, action figures, etc. relating to the film. The top 4 distribution companies are Walt Disney, warner bros, Sony pictures, and universal. Getting a distribution company isn’t free you know; film directors must pay for one. A distribution company while getting aired theatrically it would cost a fee of 35%of gross revenue. If the film was getting aired from home, then it would cost either a 50/50 net deal or a royalty deal. I have no idea what the royalty deal is, so we ask google for help. A royalty deal is where the filmmaker gets the wholesale price of every DVD sold and it could range from 20-25%.

Did you know that there are 4 distribution types? They are direct sellingselling through intermediaries, dual distribution, and reverse channels. My films has to do with horror so a distribution company I'd use would either be MVD entertainment, brain damage films, acort international, Bruder releasing inc, and much more. If I had to choose from these, I'd pick brain damage films because it is one of the pargets companies and seem to get good rates.
